Terms of Service

By creating an account or using SharedSoul ("the Service", located at https://sharedsoul.org), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

SharedSoul is not a substitute for professional mental health care. The AI mediator and Mirror are tools for self-reflection and communication coaching. They are not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychiatrist, or medical provider.

If you are in crisis — having thoughts of self-harm, harming others, or in an emergency — call your local emergency number, or in the US dial 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). Do not rely on this service for emergency support.

• You must be 16 or older.
• You're responsible for keeping your password secure.
• One human, one account. You may not share your login or transfer your account.
• All activity under your account is your responsibility.

• Paid plans are billed via Stripe in advance, on a monthly or yearly basis depending on the plan you selected.
• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled.
• Cancellation: You can cancel anytime from your account settings. You retain access until the end of your current billing period.
• Refunds: Charges are non-refundable except where required by law. We may grant prorated refunds at our discretion (e.g. accidental double-charge).
• Price changes:We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice via email. Existing subscriptions honor the price you signed up at until your next renewal.
• Failed payment: If a charge fails, your subscription enters a grace period. If unresolved, access may be downgraded to the free tier until payment is restored.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to harass, threaten, or harm others.
• Submit content depicting child sexual abuse, terrorism, or other illegal material.
• Attempt to extract another user's data, bypass row-level security, or impersonate another person.
• Reverse-engineer the AI prompts, scrape responses to train competing models, or resell access to the Service.
• Submit content you don't have the right to share — especially content involving third parties who haven't consented (e.g. forwarded private messages).
• Run automated traffic against our APIs at a rate that interferes with other users.

Violations may result in account suspension or termination without refund.

You own what you write.You grant us a limited license to store and process your conversations solely to operate the Service for you. We don't use your content to train AI models, sell to third parties, or display to other users (except the partner you explicitly invited to a shared space).

AI-generated text and audio is provided as-is. It may be inaccurate, biased, or inappropriate for your situation. You are responsible for evaluating whether to act on it. The AI's outputs are not professional advice.

We do our best to keep the Service running but don't guarantee uptime. Maintenance, third-party outages (Supabase, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Stripe), and bugs may cause downtime.

You may delete your account at any time from your settings, or by emailing support@sharedsoul.org. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or other users.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHAREDSOUL'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.

You agree to indemnify SharedSoul against any claims, losses, or damages arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Any dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by a recognized arbitration provider in California, except that either party may bring an action for injunctive relief in court for intellectual-property infringement.

Class-action waiver: You agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class action.

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes get at least 14 days' notice via email or in-app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
